Try Bruce LaBruce. He's made a couple of porn movies recently although most of them involve skinheads. "No Skin Off My Ass" was the first one that really kicked it off. Not very hardcore, but still hot. "Skin Flick" was released as both softcore and hardcore porn. The most recent movie (I think) is "Raspberry Reich" which has oral sex and hetero sex, but as a whole isn't as hardcore as "Skin Flick." "Raspberry Reich" is more artsy-fartsy, not as much punk as much as political dissidents, and it also features Dean Monroe before he got all steroidal-looking for Falcon videos.

Bruce's next film "Otto - or, Up With Dead People" is coming out next month.
It seems to be an existentialist zombie film. Anyway the main zombie is a hottie and lots of guys names are are credited at Zombie in an Orgy...
      I think I'm excited! :-)

Btw. Raspberry Reich may be less hardcore than Skin Flick. But still way hotter I think. And like Skin Flick (which was called Skin Gang in the harcore version), The Raspberry Reich has also been released in a hardcore version on DVD titled "The Revolution is My Boyfriend"

Btw. the question was for "punk porn". But how do you define that? The term is used about anything from mainstream porn fetishising punk (which can be hot, but which is also bound to make you feel cheated and explored if punk is anything but a fetish to you) to underground DIY porn...

I've not actually seen the softcore version of "Skin Flick." I used to have the hardcore version on VHS, not sure what happened to it though...

I did not know that Raspberry Reich had a hardcore version. I will need to look for it. Thanks for the tip. Definitely agree that "Raspberry Reich" is better than "Skin Flick."

And since we're on the topic of Bruce LaBruce, I must say that it was thanks to him and "J.D.s" that I ever believed there was such a thing as gay punks and skinheads. Definitely iconic in my opinion. Funny how the gay scene has co-opted punk and skinhead culture as fetishes (see Titan's "Folsom Filth" videos) and yet none of it is as revolutionary as Bruce LaBruce.

Well I dunno. I was in Folsom Filth (on the cover of the directors cut) and I was also in several very early GB Jones movies with Bruce La Bruce (Yo Yo Gang and The Troublemakers). The guy that played the Skinhead in No Skin off My Ass wrote the review of Folsom Filth for the Folsom Street Fair guide. I also have been in several queer punk bands and promoted a homocore night for nearly a decade.

Anyhow the point is the world is perhaps a little smaller than you'd think. It's really hard to say who is co-opting who. I mean I was into punk long before I knew I was a fag.

When I first came out there was no actual queer punk or skin scene - it was created by folks like BLaB, GB Jones, Tom Jennings, Deke Nihilson, etc. Magazines like JDs made it look like there was this whole world that didn't actually exist. But people believed it did and they made it real.

Taking things a step farther, where did the rubber looks from Folsom Filth really come from? They weren't punk looks to start out - they came from kinky people with weird fetishes in London in the 70s and were co opted by Malcom Mc Lauren and Vivian Westwood.

          So the score is:
70's Kinky Rubbermen -> British 77 punks -> Canadian "homocore" punks -> Kinky Rubbermen in current fetish porn.

Problem is I don't think that's really what happened. Even though the outfit I wore on the cover of Folsom Filth was originally something I put together to wear on stage with my punk band, I was riffing off gay rubbermen when I created that outfit. I was NOT playing off of anything punk, but would always wear gay fetish wear (bondage rope harnesses, assless chaps, rubber shorts with locks) on stage as something that was both funny and still kinda cheesy hot.

So let me edit myself a little bit because the reference to Folsom Filth was a broad comparison. It's probably unfair for me to say that Folsom Filth is trying to imitate punk when clearly it was more about exploring fetishes (of which punk you could argue is just one element of it). At the same time, I'm not that uninformed to believe that all counter-culture started and ended with the punk scene. Nonetheless, I do think that Folsom Filth and a lot of current gay porn fetish images that we're inundated with these days (I'm thinking of Titan, HotHouse, etc) are highly stylized, and as far as "punk" goes, they are more pastiche than the real thing (and, yes, I do realize that most porn is fantasy, so a lot of it is supposed to be stylized). I own Folsom Filth, I think it's great porn! But in the context of punk (which loses a lot of its meaning every time I type the stupid word), Bruce LaBruce influenced me more in my youth compared to they way a lot of the gay fetish images appeal to me today as an adult. No personal offense was intended towards you and the Folsom Filth movies, so sorry if it came across that way!

None taken. I just have never thought of punk as a style to be co-opted. To me punk is "fuck the rules." Soon as it looks like something you can call "punk" it's not punk :-)

Me I want to use punk ideals to make porn - and that is the only kind of punk porn I can imagine. The rest is just fetishizing cultural ideas of how we are supposed to look!

The JDs folks were a lot more cynical about punk and punk imagery than you might think. Bruce is a filmmaker and artist first and foremost. He's more related to Warhol than say, Darby Crash.

Trivia fact: the working title of Folsom Filth was Folsom Fetish - but when we shot it things got out of hand and the name needed to be changed....

Cool, I think perhaps we're some place on the same continuum... Here's my own funny Folsom Filth story... The reason why I bought the DVD was because I met Tober Brandt when he was working the door at this club in San Francisco (when I held out my wrist to have it stamped at the door, he grabbed my hand and said, "This would fit perfectly in my ass"). Later I was drunk, just horsing around, when he leans over and asks me if I've ever done scat. I tell him no, lean in closer, expecting him to tell me some fucked up story about eating the poo. Instead he uses it as an opportunity to plug his appearance in Folsom Filth. The next day, somewhat groggy and hungover, I headed out to the Castro and got me a copy to see for myself. Tober certainly gets an "A" for creative marketing, but I'm still trying to locate said scat scene. Perhaps there's an extra special director's cut that's floating around out there?
                • Re: Gay Punk porn.

                  Fri, February 1, 2008 - 11:34 PM
There *was* a scat flavored part of one scene and that bit got cut in editing. Tober was crestfallen. In fact, he was upset enough that he didn't renew with Titan. It's tricky being into really kinky stuff and having your scenes dialed down by the company.

While the drowning scene I did with Tober and Tony Buff in FEAR is pretty over the top, the scene Tony and I pitched originally was really wild - but the lawyers said no way, the producers would all end up in jail. So we're saving that idea and I'm gonna video it myself :-)
FEAR was also Tober's last movie for Titan ever.

A month later I got to shoot with Tober for Zeus - we did a nice needle scene with some nice blood (Tober and I both are really into blood - and yes, you can play safe and still do blood sports).

Back to the other topic - I wanna restate my point. Gay culture had a major impact on punk and many punk "looks" were actually gay looks - and these gay looks have been with us all along.

Forget for a moment that I used the word "co-opts" in my original comment. It was not my intention to get into an argument over which came first-- the gays, the punks, the chicken or the egg. I just was trying to say that being exposed to JDs and Bruce Labruce and the like when I was a kid had much more of an impact on me than watching a lot of the fetish porn that includes punk imagery (other than, of course, being masturbatory material).

Discussions of "punks" aside, it is interesting to see you guys push the envelope. The other day some guy was telling me that just seeing two dudes go at it doesn't do much anymore. It's almost like you gotta do the twisted stuff in order to get everyone excited. I haven't see Fear and the drowning scene you speak of, and quite honestly I will probably pass on the blood fun, but I do respect y'all for taking it to that level.

I started brain storming a film idea with the publisher of a Punk Zine called Fanorama.
Not a "porn" but something that could be ...Well will be seen as homo erotic.
I suspect it's also going to be seen as a critique of Male Queer Culture.

It'll have the punk perspective that Mark has raised; "fuck the rules."

I see it as the start of a series of shorts that will be combined in the future.

Part of the reason I have been wanting to do this for a Long while is my
dissatisfaction with Gay porn in general.

Shooting begins when the weather warms up.
If anyone has advice or can contribute or wants to be involved let me know.

The Raspberry Reich is genius! It starts with hetero sex, but then gets to the homo sex. But the sex isn't what it's all about, it's about revolution, in an absurd, crazy way.

        Re: Gay Punk porn.

        Sat, February 2, 2008 - 3:05 PM
I need some money. I mean LOTS OF IT! Or at least I wish I could some one to invest in helping me make some punk porn.
But I don't know how to make movies, I can only guess how to do it "DIY" style (a phrase that gets over used often).
And unfortunately there is no real market for it, no great profit, so no one is really going to make this type of porn that I've heard so many queer punks say they wish was available.
I'm not a great fan of Bruce LaBruce- his movies are alright, so I'm not trying to criticize them, but they are good for what they are. However, they target a small audience- gay skinheads and those who fetishize them.
Speaking of Darby Crash, I would like to see all make porn with punk men with the look of say like the Casualities. I'm not a big fan of them, but I'm using them as an example for the look.
Again, not criticizing Bruce la Bruce but it just shows how things are when he is the ONLY one who comes up when people talk about queer punk porn.
And like I said before, I don't have enough money or film-making know how to offer any thing else. I guess no one else on this tribe does either or you'd probably be doing it, huh?
I can barely get anyone to comment or take any interest on the Germs movie that recently came out...
        • Re: Gay Punk porn.

          Sat, February 2, 2008 - 6:13 PM
You don't need lots of money to make good porn. Especially now that you can do all your distro online. All but the really big porn companies are pretty DIY in their approach. In some cases you can tell - in others you'd be shocked to see how they are able to get such good results with crappy cameras and clip lights.

I don't really think of BLaB's stuff as porn. I mean I don't wank off to porn much, but I really can't imagine wanking off to his videos.

Have you seen that Germs movie? I heard it was good, but I've not had a chance to see it and I think it's gone already so I'm waiting for DVD.

            Sun, February 3, 2008 - 6:08 PM
I wrote that last post so fast that I was wondering if it made any sense to any one else!
"You don't need lots of money to make good porn."- probably not, but relatively speaking it is going to take a lot more money than any that I can get my hands on. Or any one else on this tribe for that matter- that is, any one who is interested, otherwise one of us would already be making this good porn that we have been talking about.

Actually, I can't even afford TO BUY the porn that I would be very happy to be wanking off to. I totally agree- I wouldn't be wanking off to Bruce LaBruce. Lately I have found that my favorite type of porn is the amateur stuff like Sean Cody, Corbin Fisher and that English guy who is just like the other two. What I like most about those videos is that there is less fake scenario going on, and the "bottom" usually has a total hard-on while he is getting fucked, which to me means that he is enjoying it as much as the "top". Then some where else you will find him being the "active" partner with some one else, and the other guy is also with some else switching "roles". Versatility is a REAL turn on for me.
But porn is porn and I have given up on finding any with the kind of guys I am primarily attracted to and the guys I sleep with. As long as the men are good looking and the sex is intense, then it works for me- and that is also to say that all I really want it for is for the sake of masturbation.

I haven't had the chance to see the movie and as far as I know it only played in Los Angeles- it certainly never came to Portland yet. Actually, I guess I shouldn't be such a jerk- most of my friends who are big Germs fans also have no idea what is up with the movie and a few don't even know that it was made at all. So I tell them to find the trailer on Youtube.
So maybe Shane West will star in my punk porn- it can be like the Caligula of Darby Crash biopics. Apparently Darby was a bottom and in love with Donny Rose, who was a teenage hustler with a huge penis- you can see it in "Lexicon Devil" the official biography of Darby and the Germs. Yes, the photograph really is in there!

So the moral of this thread is- boys, get out your video recorder, spike up your mohawk and start making some movies for us!

Well I *am* starting a video company. I've spent my whole weekend taking footage off of my camera and into Adobe Premier. It's all footage of punk bands, but it's as good as anything else to shoot and edit when you're learning. But I'm not gonna be doing *punk* porn stuff - but it will have the edges that makes people love punk aesthetics. But my heart is in BDSM and rough sex vids. I don't have a fetish for particular looks - punk or otherwise.

I never buy porn. When you do videos you end up with lots of videos from lots of studios. I can't watch it to jerk off - it's all technical stuff to me now. Every now and then a video will actually turn me on - then I know to step back and figure out why. Cuz when I can forget the technical stuff that means it's a really hot video.

Last year, when I tried to relocate back to the Bay Area (I'm originally from SF), I would sing that song whenever I would pass some one talking on their cell phone as I walked down Valencia Street. And there were at least 3 people on every block between 16th and 24th. I would sing that song, and occasionally "Identity" or "Highly Inflammable", as loud as I could. Of course I did this to annoy cell phone users who were also neo-yuppies and hipsters who would talk really loud on their cell phones, the ones who didn't seem to think that their conversations were really annoying to some one like me who just wanted to walk don the street in peace with my own thoughts. Or maybe they just didn't care who was subjected to their person business. But some times I felt like Malcom McDowell in "A Clockwork Orange", strapped to the chair and forced to watch and hear things that would basically make me sick.
Speaking of hipsters, when did Crass get so popular among uh... crass consumerists? It was bad enough that EVERY ONE started wearing that one particular Ramones t-shirt.
